What to bring to a pick your own farm

Updated October 2026

Checklist

  • Sun hat, sun cream and water. Fields have little shade.
  • Comfortable shoes you don’t mind getting muddy.
  • Long sleeves for raspberries and blackberries, which can scratch.
  • Something flat for the car to carry punnets home without squashing them. A cool bag helps on hot days.
  • Payment. Most farms weigh and charge at a till; some charge for entry or containers too. Check the farm’s website.
  • Hand wipes for sticky children.

Before you set off

Check what’s ready and whether the farm is open that day. Most farms update their websites or social media during the season. If you want to bring a dog, check first: many farms don’t allow dogs in growing fields for food-hygiene reasons. Our farm pages show any dog policy the farm publishes.
